#ECOCAMPTSU International Volunteer Ecological Camp opened on Tuesday on the
basis of the Siberian Botanical Garden of Tomsk State University (TSU);
volunteers from five countries participate in its work, the press service of
the university said on Tuesday.
It is specified that
international volunteer camps (work camps) – are a common world practice. The
type of activity in the project can be different – from organizing a world
music festival and working with children to archaeological research and
restoration work of the 18th century castle.
"From August 20 to
August 29, the program of camp (#ECOCAMPTSU) will include the work of students
on plant care in greenhouses and the park of the Siberian Botanical Garden.
Volunteers will also take part in master classes, educational lectures and
exchange experiences on waste recycling and the use of plastic, fast fashion
and so on", – is said in the report.
It is added that the camp
is devoted to the preservation of ecosystems, as well as issues of informed
consumption. The camp participants were 10 volunteers from Japan, Austria,
Indonesia, Poland and Russia, and volunteers of the Botanical Garden.
"This is our fourth
volunteer camp. Each year we spend it in the summer. The first two were done on
springs near the TSU lake on the Moscow tract, last year the camp was dedicated
to the popularization of volunteering among Tomsk children", – the head of
the TSU volunteer center UNIVOL Christina Buyakova is quoted in the message.
According to the press
service, the camp’s lecturers will be employees of the TSU Biological
Institute, experts of the "Clean World", "Vegan Athens
Tomsk" companies, "Two Lemons" zero-waste store, and Tomsk
eco-bloggers. Within the framework of the camp will be held open events where
participants intend to discuss the topics of informed consumption with caring
citizens and talk about the eco-experience of their countries.
