the Russian National Championships in rafting in the "parallel"
sprint discipline, the department for youth policy, physical culture and sports
of the Tomsk region reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the Russian National
Championships in rafting is held in the Leningrad region on the Vuoksa River,
23 male and 8 female teams from 14 regions of the country take part in it.
"The competitions, which will last until
September 15, are qualifying for the Russian national team. The Tomsk region is
represented by the "Tomsk-Odyssey" raft team, consisting of trainees
of the center of water sports named after V. A. Shevelev and the "Odyssey"
Kopylovsky club. Following the results of the first day Tomsk athletes won gold
medals in the "parallel sprint" discipline", – is said in the report.
It is noted that further athletes will compete in the
R4 category (4-seater raft), and then in the R6 category (6-seater raft).
In early August, the "Tomsk-Odyssey" youth
team became the absolute champion at the Russian Rafting Championship in groups
R4 and R6 and will represent the country at the World Championships in China in
2020, emphasizes the message of the department.
