Tomsk. TSU took the eighth place in the ranking of the best universities
in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, compiled by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) for 2020,
thanks to formation of university ecosystem and education export; TSU took the first
place among Russian universities in proportion of foreign students, the university’s
press service said on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported
that Tomsk State University (TSU) has improved its position in the ranking of the
British agency QS, compiled for the countries of Emerging Europe and Central Asia
for 2020. The university climbed five lines and took the eighth line of the rating,
in which 350 universities are evaluated.
According to the
press service, TSU has improved its performance by criteria such as reputation among
academic experts and employers, and the number of scientific articles.
"In terms of
the number of students per teacher and the number of teachers with an academic degree,
the university received a maximum mark -100 points. TSU has almost the same result
on the number of foreign students, where the university is in the eighth place",
– is said in the report.
With reference to
the rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky it is added that the fact that TSU not only
improved its position, but entered the top 10 universities in Europe and Asia, confirms
the correctness of the vector chosen by the university for the formation of the
university’s ecosystem and for the export of educational technologies.

It is clarified that
when compiling the rating, experts evaluated universities by 10 criteria: academic
reputation and reputation among employers, ratio of scientific and pedagogical staff
to students, number of publications per employee, international scientific relations,
effectiveness of university online resources, proportion of employees with a PhD
degree, number of citations per article, proportion of foreign employees and students.
