TOMSK, Dec 24 – RIA Tomsk. Vadim Stepanov has been appointed director of the Tomsk National
Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (TNRMC of the RAS)
for a period of 5 years by order of the Russian Ministry of Education and
Science, the regional administration press service said on Tuesday.
It was previously reported that in December 2018,
Evgeny Choynzonov left the post of head of the TNRMC. The acting director was
appointed director of the Tomsk Research Institute of Medical Genetics (RIMG)
Vadim Stepanov.
"By order of the Russian Ministry of Education
and Science, Vadim Stepanov was appointed director of the Tomsk National
Research Medical Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences (TNRMC of the RAS)
for a term of 5 years ... According to the results of the elections held in the
TNRMC in the fall, 80.8% of employees voted for the director of the Research
Institute of Medical Genetics Vadim Stepanov", – is said in the report.
It's specified that the order of appointment was
signed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian
Federation Mikhail Kotyukov on December 19, 2019.
Vadim Stepanov in 1988 graduated from the Faculty of
Biology and Soil of Tomsk State University with a degree in biology. In 1989,
he was hired at RIMG. He is a doctor of biological sciences, professor,
corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of RIMG and
the head of the laboratory of evolutionary genetics.
It was previously reported that TNRMC was created in
2016 on the basis of the Tomsk Cancer Research Institute. It was joined by the
Cardiology Research Institute, Mental Health Research Institute, Research
Institute of Medical Genetics, Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology and
Perinatology, Goldberg Research Institute of Pharmacology and Regenerative
Medicine, and Tyumen Branch of the Tomsk Cardiology Research Center.
