TOMSK, May 7 – RIA Tomsk. All Tomsk universities to conduct interim and final assessment of students in 2020 online, such a decision was made by the Council of the Tomsk Consortium of Universities and Scientific Organizations, the exception will be certification requiring face-to-face student presence, the press service of Tomsk State University (TSU) said on Thursday.
Earlier it was reported that due to the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection in the Tomsk region from March 31 to May 11, a regime of complete self-isolation is in effect. In addition, all universities till the end of May switched to distance learning on the recommendation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
According to the press service, a proposal to take exams and defend term papers and dissertations remotely was made by the deputy chairman of the Consortium Council, the acting rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) Victor Dyomin. He was supported by the chairman of the Council, the rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky.
"The Tomsk Consortium of Universities and Scientific Organizations unanimously decided to conduct online an interim and final certification of Tomsk students in 2020. The exception is the final certification in the areas <...> requiring face-to-face attendance of students, this list will be approved by orders at each university separately", - is said in the message.
It is added that the decision to introduce this format of work with students was made by the Consortium Council on May 6.
“I would like to emphasize separately that students who have left Tomsk can take a session from where they are now - everything will be carried out using distance educational technologies, it is not necessary to return to Tomsk for this purpose”, - the TSU rector is quoted.
Earlier it was reported that the Tomsk Consortium of Universities and Scientific Organizations includes seven universities, 10 academic institutes and the Tomsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS. The structure provides interaction of the authorities with the scientific and educational complex of the region and is the link between industry, applied science, university and academic environment. The Consortium Council approves all joint initiatives of organizations belonging to the Big Tomsk University.
