Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published a list of the best universities in the
world in 2020; Tomsk State University (TSU) took the 250th line, Tomsk Polytechnic - the 401th, follows from the document on the agency’s website.
It was
previously reported that TSU and TPU have been participating in the
"5-100" global competitiveness program since 2013, aimed at ensuring
that by 2020 in the Russian Federation there was a group of leading
universities with international academic reputation that are able to meet
global development trends. Within the framework of the project 21 universities
annually receive additional funding from the state budget. In 2019, TSU
received 861 million, and TPU - 430.5 million rubles.
As indicated in
the QS Rankings of 2020, TSU is in 250th place (in 2019 - the 268th) and is in
the fourth place among Russian universities included in the list.
TPU stands on
the 401st place (in 2019 - the 387th) and is the 15th among Russian
universities.
Moscow State
University is in the first place among Russian universities - it occupies the
74th line of the ranking. Next in the top three leaders of the Russian
Federation are - St. Petersburg and Novosibirsk State Universities. In total,
Russia is represented by 32 universities. Like a year ago, the top line in the
list of the best universities in the world at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology, the second - at Stanford, Harvard kept the third place.
Earlier it was
reported that six parameters are evaluated in the ranking: academic reputation,
employer reputation, faculty/student ratio, citations per faculty,
international faculty ratio, international student ratio.
