TOMSK, Oct
28 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) in 2020 ranked second among
Russian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings
"Arts and Humanities", the website of the British agency reported.
Strengthening was the result of interdisciplinary projects and reengineering of
education at the university, Rector Eduard Galazhinsky said RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it
was reported that TSU for two years - in 2018 and 2019 - was included in the
group 201-250 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by
subject: "Art and Humanities". These are universities that train
specialists in the fields of art, languages, history, philosophy, theology,
architecture and archeology.
As follows
from the "Art and Humanities" subject rankings published on the
website of the Times Higher Education on Wednesday, TSU has risen to the group
151-175. Tomsk University ranks second among Russian universities, after Moscow
State University. The third place is shared by the State University – Higher
School of Economics (SU-HSE) and St. Petersburg State University (SPBU).
"Strengthening
TSU's position in the rankings is, firstly, the result of synergy that
inevitably arises within a classical university: we have created a fertile
ground for the development of interdisciplinary projects, for example, in
solving the problem of automatic analysis of natural language by linguists. The
second important point is reengineering of the educational process, which is
launched at the university", – Galazhinsky said.
He
specified that the university is currently actively looking for new educational
models, design projects for future programs are being created.
It also
follows from the data on the website of the Times Higher Education that TSU is
noted in seven more subject rankings: "Education" (401-500 group),
"Social sciences" (501-600), "Engineering & technology"
(301-400), "Clinical, pre-clinical & health" (401-500),
"Physical sciences" (201-250), "Computer science" (601-800)
and "Life sciences" (401-500).
