RIA Tomsk. The short film "The Woman in the
Room", shot by Tomsk residents based on Stephen King's story, will be
presented at Russian and international film festivals; Tomsk residents will be
able to see this picture in the cinema at the end of February, the producer of
the film Roman Dvaladze told RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was
reported that 16-year-old Tomsk resident Diana Kostyrina signed a contract with
Stephen King as a director to film his story "The Woman in the Room"
under the Dollar Baby program, within the framework of which the writer shares
his copyrights with schoolchildren and aspiring filmmakers around the world for
a year. A private screening of the film took place on January 15.
"We are
planning to send "The Woman in the Room" to various festivals, not
only Russian, but also foreign. Tomsk natives will be able to see the film at
the end of February – at the beginning of March in the cinema, we have not yet
decided on the stage, but we will show the picture exactly on the big
screen", – Dvaladze said, specifying that the picture will be sent to Stephen
King.
The interlocutor
of the agency added that the director's cut of the film was 30 minutes.
It was also
reported that the shooting of "The Woman in the Room" took place in a
closed hotel, in the "Professor's Apartment" museum, in Lagerny Garden
and in a country house. The story of the American writer is adapted to Russian
realities. For example, the main character's name is not Joni, but Alexey. The
ending of the film does not coincide with the ending of the story – it is more
positive.
The short film
will be shown in 2021 in Krasnodar at the annual international festival Dollar
Baby Russia.
