5 – RIA Tomsk. The English-language program of pre-university training for
foreign applicants starts at the end of April at Siberian State Medical
University (SSMU); students to be prepared for entrance exams in chemistry and
biology, introduced to Russian traditions, Head of the SSMU Center for
International Development and Partnership Eva Burbo told RIA Tomsk.
"Most
often, universities offer preparatory courses for applicants in Russian,
respectively, we have a newer idea with English. I have not seen anyone
preparing (applicants) in English," Burbo said.
The course
will be aimed at ensuring that applicants from other countries can not only
effectively prepare for the entrance examinations at the university, but also
acquire intercultural competencies that will help them adapt in another country
in the future.

The program
for preparing foreign applicants for admission to Siberian State Medical
University is focused on applicants from India and North Africa. Burbo added
that applicants from the CIS will also be able to take this course.
"Students
come from different schools, and their backgrounds are different. Not everyone
teaches biology in the same way. We cannot demand the same biology from both
our Russian and foreign students. This course is a leveling one, so that we
take into account the peculiarities of different educational programs, to
relieve the stress of the students because of ignorance of what introductory
is," the agency's interlocutor added.
Courses for
preparing foreign applicants for admission to Siberian State Medical University
will start at the end of April in a distance format in the mode of individual
consultations with teachers.
