TOMSK, Apr 22 – RIA Tomsk. The British publication Times Higher Education (THE) has included Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in the top 100 universities in the world for interaction with industry, innovation and infrastructure development; TPU retained its positions in the overall standings, the press service of the university said on Thursday.
"TPU entered the top 100 universities in the world in terms of interaction with industry, implementation of innovations and infrastructure development in the THE ranking. Compared to last year, the university improved its positions, moving from 101-200 group to the 96th line... In the overall ranking, TPU retained its presence in the range 401-600," says the message.
It is added that in addition to "industrialization, innovation and infrastructure" Polytech is included in the rankings for four more so-called sustainable development goals: "quality education", "reduced inequalities", "sustainable cities and communities" and "partnerships for the goals".

According to the press service, more than 1200 universities from 98 countries were considered for participation in the 2021 ranking, which is almost 500 universities more than in last year's ranking. Russia is the leader in the number of participating universities (86), the overall ranking includes 75 Russian universities. The University of Manchester (UK) became the leader in the overall ranking.
Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) is one of the most influential annual world university rankings, compiled by Times Higher Education magazine. It takes into account indicators grouped into five areas: Teaching (the learning environment); Research (volume, income and reputation); Citations (research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research); and Industry Income (knowledge transfer).
