TOMSK, May 12 –
RIA Tomsk. Tomsk delegation at the 24th
St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which will be held in early
June, will present a project for the construction of a multifunctional student
campus, where, in particular, it is planned to place research units of large
companies, the press service of the regional administration reported on
Wednesday.
Earlier it was
reported that in 2019 the regional administration, VEB.RF and the Ministry of
Science and Higher Education agreed on the implementation in Tomsk of a pilot
project for the construction of an inter-university campus within the framework
of the "Education" national project (it's about a grant from the
state budget in the amount of 15 billion rubles) with the involvement of
private investments. The campus will be able to accommodate 20 thousand
students and will become a joint facility of the universities of the Big
University of Tomsk.
According to the
press service, at the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the
delegation of the Tomsk region will present a project for the construction of a
multifunctional student campus. With reference to the deputy governor Andrey
Antonov, it is clarified that the emphasis in the presentation will be made on
advanced educational programs and the development of startups with the
participation of large companies.
"The
inter-university campus will allow us to combine the development centers of
large companies, a small business environment, technology testing sites and a
multifunctional student town. The project will be accompanied by... introducing
measures to support technological startups and stimulate large business to
accommodate research units in the campus," Antonov is quoted.

It is added that
within the framework of the forum business program, a number of agreements are
planned, in particular, with PJSC Gazprom Neft on cooperation with the
administration of the Tomsk region on cooperative projects, including the
development of the Paleozoic technology platform.
St. Petersburg
International Economic Forum has been held since 1997, and since 2006 it has
been held under the auspices and with the participation of the President of
Russia. Over the years, the forum has become the leading platform for
networking among the business community and discussing key economic issues
facing Russia, emerging markets and the world as a whole. The 24th St.
Petersburg International Economic Forum will be held in St. Petersburg from
June 2 to 5.
As previously
reported, the reserves of traditional oil fields in the Tomsk region are
running out, in 2025 this will lead to a reduction in production from 10 to 5
million tons per year. Gazprom Neft has launched the Paleozoic project in the
region to develop hard-to-recover oil reserves from pre-Jurassic deposits.
According to scientists, the development of methods for prospecting Paleozoic
deposits is possible by the end of 2021.
