Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in
Russia Gilles Arnout Beschoor Plug announced the willingness of Dutch
scientists to join Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) Hydrogen Valley scientific and technological
consortium at a meeting with the head of the region Sergey Zhvachkin,
the press service of the regional administration said.
Earlier
it was reported that in November 2020, TPU initiated the creation of a
consortium for the development of hydrogen technologies, its members
will jointly develop technologies for hydrogen production and its use.
The Technological Hydrogen Valley consortium includes six scientific and
educational organizations of the Russian Federation.
According
to the press service, Zhvachkin met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom
of the Netherlands in the Russian Federation Gilles Arnout Beschoor Plug
within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic
Forum, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between the
country and the region.
"The Tomsk region is a very
attractive region in terms of innovation. Our Advisor on Innovation,
Technology and Science would like to take part in the fall international
conference "Science and Technology: Connecting Continents", organized
by your TPU. Besides, our scientists would like to join scientific and
technological consortium Hydrogen Valley, also organized by TPU with the
support of the regional government", – the press service quoted the
ambassador.
According to the press service, Zhvachkin
underlined in response that both the university and the consortium are
open for international participation, and the region itself was waiting
for the visit of the embassy delegation at convenient terms. The head of
the region also outlined the desired new areas of cooperation: Dutch
experts can help Tomsk to create an architectural lighting of the
historic center, intellectual lighting, as well as the development of a
comprehensive concept for landscaping.
Recall that the
delegation from the Netherlands, led by the country's former ambassador
Mrs. Renée Jones-Bos visited Tomsk in October 2018, which served to
develop Tomsk-Dutch cooperation. A "Living Laboratory" appeared in
Tomsk; with the participation of the Dutch architectural bureau LEVS a
"Dutch Quarter" is being built on Komsomolsky Avenue; the greenhouse
farm Trubachyovo buys planting material from the Netherlands, and the
Sibirskoye Moloko company – pedigree cattle and robots, TSU, TPU and
SSMU implement joint projects with universities of the Netherlands.
