TOMSK, Jun 30 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of the Faculty of Innovative Technologies of Tomsk State University (FIT TSU) are developing algorithms to ensure the stability of drone couriers and the safety of their movement around the city; the project is implemented under the IGTech (Initialization Global Technology Business) program, the university's website said.
IGTech is a program organized by the Skolkovo Foundation and Skoltech with the support of the Commercialization Reactor (Riga) to create and develop new high-tech businesses – DeepTech startups.
"IGTech is a platform where a scientific group can demonstrate its competences and find entrepreneurs who are interested in this scientific groundwork. <...> Scientists of the TSU Faculty of Innovative Technologies presented their work on creating algorithms that enable autonomous movement of drone couriers without reference to a GPS signal", – says the report.
It is specified that the loss of signal arising due to high-rise buildings makes flying couriers extremely vulnerable. In addition, there are a large number of wires, which also pose a danger to the flying courier and which must be overcome. FIT researchers have learned how to solve this problem through the use of vision systems.
"As the high-tech startup is ready, an interested company will begin to promote a new product to the market. <...> Business representatives who are well versed in modern market trends are able to generate ideas to create innovative products using the competencies available to scientists", – the university said in a statement.
