TOMSK, Jul 8 –
RIA Tomsk. The roadmap for the
construction of the inter-university campus, approved at the level of Russian
Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, suggests delivery of residential part
by the end of 2023, while the pool, sports facilities and multifunctional training
center will be ready in 2024, curator of the project Deputy Governor Andrey
Antonov told.
Earlier it was
reported that during his visit to Tomsk the Chairman of the Government of the
Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin announced allocation of 18 billion rubles
from the state budget to the region for the construction of the
inter-university campus on the left bank of the Tom River in 2022-2024. The
total cost of the project, taking into account private investment, will be 31
billion. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2022.
"Two main
parts of the project are highlighted: housing goes a little bit ahead, we
should have it up and run in late 2023 or early 2024; and the pool and the
multifunctional learning center - with the need for specialized and mostly
foreign equipment for water treatment, ventilation and other – we should be up
and run in 2024. The launch of one part of the campus does not prevent us from
completing the second part," Antonov said.

He noted that
building a warm walkway between the residential part and the public part was a
request of the international students who participated in the discussions about
the project. Multifunctional training center and sports center are planned
closer to the banks of the Tom – directly near the cable car, so that all this
infrastructure could be used by the citizens.
"In the
next month we are forming the terms of reference for the design, and we proceed
to the preparation of the project - there may still be some changes, but they
will not be fundamental. Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer of
2022. This road map was approved by the Minister of Science and Higher
Education, Governor and Deputy Prime Minister (Marat) Khusnullin," the
deputy governor summed up.
It was also reported
that the campus will occupy an area of 52 hectares behind the Communal Bridge.
Besides the housing for students and teachers of Tomsk universities, an
engineering center, food court, 50-meter swimming pool, concert and exhibition
halls and film studio are planned there. The complex will be additionally
connected to the city center by a cableway with warm 12-seat cabins.
