TOMSK, Sep 27 –
RIA Tomsk. Aviation site named after Valery Chkalov in the
Tomsk region will become the first base operating centre for maintenance of
unmanned aerial systems (UAS), sites in Kolpashevo, Bakchar, Kargasok, and
Kedrovy will also be adapted for drones, Acting Deputy Governor for Economics
Natalya Nemtseva told reporters.
Earlier it was
reported that since 2018, the Taiga federal project has been implemented in the
Tomsk region, which envisages the creation of a pilot cargo delivery area and
other tasks using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the region. In August
2021, it became known about the plans to create a base at the Chkalov airfield
near Tomsk to implement the project: a single control room, from which the UAVs
will be monitored, controlled and commanded.
"Here (at
the Chkalov aviation site in the Tomsk region) a unified control room of the
pilot area will be organized for monitoring and control of unmanned aircraft
systems in the region, which will allow in the future to work out technologies
of integration of UAS in a single airspace with manned aviation," Nemtseva
said.
According to
her, the pilot area operator will be a specially created organization in the
region, OOO "Regional operator "Unmanned systems", its founders
are OOO "Systems. Technologies. Communications", Tomsk State
University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics and OOO SibAeroCraft.
Nemtseva noted
that the next stage of creating a network of base operating centres in the
experimental area will be the adaptation of landing sites in Kolpashevo,
Bakchar and Kargasok villages and Kedrovy.
"In each
case, the specification of the required additional infrastructure support for
unmanned aircrafts will be selected based on the territorial and climatic
characteristics of the working routes," acting deputy governor clarified.
Earlier it was
also reported that a private airfield named after Valery Chkalov was opened
near Berezkino village in the Tomsk region, which belongs to aircraft building
company SibAeroCraft. It has taken over all intraregional flights while the
runway of the Tomsk airport is being repaired.
