Britain, Germany, the USA and Russia and the existing ethnic stereotypes within
a course of open lectures which starts on Friday, is reported on the website of
the university.
"TSU scientific offer to attention of Tomsk
residents six lectures about British, Americans, Germans and, of course,
Russians, which will make to think of ethnic stereotypes, to know themselves
and slightly better to understand others", – it is said in the message.

It is specified that the course will be read by the
staff of the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology of TSU. The first
lecture will take place on April 22 at 18:25 in the third case of the
university, in audience No. 26. Lecturers of the state university will suggest
to take another look at intercultural tolerance and the role of the English
language in international communication.
It is added that the subsequent lectures will be
devoted to national peculiarities living in Russia, Germany, America and Great
Britain, and also their traditional way of life. A detailed schedule of
lectures can be found on the website of TSU.
"Cross-cultural communication stops being
something exclusive, becomes everyday part of our life and work. <…> We
as teachers of foreign languages, are well realize specifics of communication
with representatives of other cultures, understand that skills of successful
cross-cultural communication is this what needs to be learned", – are
quoted in the message the associate professor of TSU Evgenia Ablogina.
It is noted that entrance to all lectures is free.
