(TSU) plans to involve scientists from France to participation in
natural-science, ethnographic, geological and other researches of the center
"Transsiberian Scientific Way", the university professor Sergey
Kirpotin reported on Thursday.
Earlier it was informed that the TSU Center
"Transsiberian Scientific Way" (TSSW) has officially opened at the
beginning of February. It will focus in studying of Siberia on various
disciplines, involving research groups from around the world.
On Thursday in Tomsk started the conference
"Cooperation with the European universities in Siberia: problems and
solutions" which experts from France and Russia will discuss new
approaches and mechanisms of development of the international cooperation of
universities. Platforms for the event were TSU and Tomsk Polytechnic
University.
"Already exists a number of the projects (jointly
implemented by researchers from Tomsk and French universities). In France,
unlike other European countries, there is the most powerful international
structure – the National center of scientific researches of France. <…>
TSU plans to involve French scientists in the center (researches of
Siberia)", – Kirpotin has told.

He has noted that scientists from France already
participate in some researches of Tomsk colleagues in the field of geology,
paleontology and studying of climate. However for cooperation expansion,
according to Kirpotin, in Siberia it is necessary to develop infrastructure,
comfortable for foreigners, and transport connection.
In turn, the coordinator of conference the director of
the French center of Novosibirsk State University Michel Debrenn has noted that
Tomsk universities attract foreign scientists with strong schools of sciences
and uniqueness of Siberia itself as an object of research. "This action –
is the eighth in a row. And I've seen in previous years, that the result of
such meetings are joint programs, diplomas for students, research
programs", – she has added.
