TOMSK, Sep 12 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) and Polytechnic University (TPU) submitted applications for joint financing of two new projects in the field of medicine within the 5-100 program, each higher education institution requests from the federal budget 1 billion rubles, the TSU rector Eduard Galazhinsky told journalists on Monday.
Earlier it was reported that TSU and TPU were included into the 5-100 program in 2013 to which participants additional financing is allocated for increase of the international competitiveness. Following the results of 2015, TSU and TPU were among the strongest participants of the program and received 964 million rubles, this year – in the second ("average") group to which participants it is allocated 500 million rubles.

According to Galazhinsky, the higher education institutions have submitted applications for new projects on medicine.
"Pyotr Savelyevich (Chubik, the rector of TPU) prepared on nuclear medicine, we – on biomedicine. For four years we request 1 billion rubles: 500 million – from the federal budget, and we undertake to extract 500 million together with partners", – Galazhinsky specified at the press conference in the RIA Tomsk media center.
The rector of TPU Pyotr Chubik expressed confidence that the project on increase of competitiveness of the leading Russian universities will proceed. "The start to it was given by the president, he hasn't cancelled any of his decrees yet. Therefore we have neither confusion, nor any pessimistic expectations", – he noted.
