TOMSK, Sep 30 – RIA Tomsk. Scientists of
Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Italian University of Trento finished
development of fitness-application for elderly people; downloading it on
tablet, they will be able not only to improve physical shape, but also to
communicate with each other, the press service of the university reports on
Friday.
It is noted that tablet application –
GymCentral – is developed in the international laboratory of technologies of
elderly people wellbeing improvement of TPU under the leadership of professor
of Trento university Fabio Casati. On the tablet screen the trainer shows to
the created groups individually picked up exercises. In the application there
is a function of a chat where participating pensioners can communicate with
each other.
"We have already tested the
application in Russia, Italy, the Netherlands, the USA, Switzerland. The
experiment has shown that physical and social activity are interconnected: the
more the person trains, the more communicates. The platform proved itself so
well that when the research has come to the end, people continued to use the
program" — quoted in the message Casati.

It is noted that in each group about 20
people are engaged and now scientists together with psychologists and
sociologists study how it is correct to form groups for the maximum effect.
Also they plan to develop the control system for the one who uses the application
that the person having contraindications hasn't done much harm to himself.
It is added that researchers were prompted
to application creation after the research which shown that most of elderly
people in the Tomsk region feel lonely. Also it become clear that lonely people
have 50% more problems with health. Now the system is in the final stage of
introduction, after that the application will be available for download in
AppStore and Google Play.
