colleagues from Biysk developed the laser scanner capable to find explosive
traces even in the 100-th fingerprint of the person contacting to dangerous
substance, the press service of the innovative organizations of the Tomsk region
reports on Monday.
It is specified that work on the device was coordinated by Federal Security
Service of the Russian Federation. Specialists of two Tomsk institutes of the
Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Science – Institute of
Atmospheric Optics n.a. Zuev and Institute of High Current Electronics, and
also Biysk Institute for Problems of Chemical & Energetic Technologies were
engaged in its development.

It is noted that the laser remote detector is intended for search of traces of
explosives on the surface of motor transport, hand luggage and baggage.
"Sensitivity of the remote detector for such hardly revealed substances as
hexogen and octogene at a distance of five meters makes 1 nanogram on square
centimeter. Under favorable conditions it is capable to find the 100-th
fingerprint, contacting to explosive", – is said in the message.
It is added that today the device is tested by the staff of the Center of the
special equipment and communication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia
and undergone approbation at the railway station of Tomsk.
