© Павел Стефанский TOMSK, Jan 4 - RIA Tomsk. Research Library of Tomsk State University (TSU RL) plans to enter in 2017 the network project on books
restoration together with the Russian and European libraries, the director of
the Research Library Mikhail Shepel reported RIA Tomsk.
"The main task of 2017 – is to combine efforts in this direction
with other centers in Russia and abroad. It is about attempt to create the big
network project in the field of restoration", – Shepel told.
He specified that in the project is supposed the participation of the
Austrian national library, a number of the restoration centers of Germany,
centers of restoration of National Library of Russia and Library of foreign literature.

"It will be mutual exchange of experience as we have different
approaches and methods caused by work with different types of materials",
– the interlocutor of the agency noted.
According to him, similar exchange of experience is necessary as in the
world there is a set of technologies of restoration which are suitable for
different types of the materials used for pages, cover and other elements of
the book. Besides, there is a set of "not completely solved
problems", for example, in the field of preservation of pencil records or
use of laser technologies for elimination of leakage.
Shepel added that in TSU RL on researches in the field of book
restoration works the whole group of experts
– librarians, historians,
philologists and even the microbiologist who helps to look for interesting
methods in the field of preservation of documents. Also other scientific
divisions of the university are involved in this process.
