TOMSK, Mar 23 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (TSU) – is
the only non-capital university – among the leaders of the "5-100"
program after the "road maps" submission for 2017 and report on work
in 2016; Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) kept positions in the second group,
is reported on the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of the
Russian Federation.
Earlier it was reported that on March 17 in Moscow TSU and TPU submitted
reports on the "5-100" project at the Council on Competitiveness
Enhancement of Leading Russian Universities. Representatives of higher
education institutions in 10 minutes had to tell about results of
implementation of the program in 2016 and tasks for 2017, and then to answer
the questions of the council members.
On the website of the Ministry of Education and Science it is specified that
the reports were submitted by 21 universities. They were divided into three
categories: leaders (those who gained more than 7 points), average group (4-7
points) and the universities gained less than 4 points.
"The leading group of higher education institutions included National
University of Science and Technology MISiS, National Research Tomsk State
University, St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies,
Mechanics and Optics", – is said in the message.

It is added that also this group included National Research Nuclear University
MEPhI, Higher School of Economics, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
In average group – there are eight higher education institutions, including
TPU.
"Following the results of the meeting of the council will be prepared
recommendations for universities that will improve their competitiveness. At an
autumn meeting Council plans to hear "road maps" of higher education
institutions for 2018-2020 and to make final decisions on volumes of the
subsidies allocated to universities for the following stage", – is noted
in the message.
TSU and TPU in 2013 were included into the "5-100" project to which
participants additional financing for increase in the international
competitiveness is allocated. In 2017 and 2016 Tomsk universities entered the
second group, them were allocated 482 and 500 million rubles, respectively. The
previous year they were among the universities which received maximum financing
– on 964 million rubles each.
