TOMSK, Aug 7 – RIA Tomsk. The Russian team took first place
in the team event at the Finswimming World Junior Championships in Tomsk,
winning 35 medals for five competitive days: 16 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze
medals, the press service of the regional administration reports.
Earlier it was reported that the
15th Finswimming World Junior Championships was held in Tomsk from August 1 to
August 6. About 300 junior sportsmen from 25 countries took part in the
competition. The main heats took place in the Zvezdniy pool, where the Russian
national team won 14 gold, nine silver and 10 bronze medals in four days of the
competition. On Sunday, two more awards were added to the team's receptacle
after the marathon swims on the lake Rozhnevo near Tomsk.
"For five competitive days, the
Russian team won 35 medals: 16 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze. The closest
pursuers of the Russians were the teams from Hungary, which took 10 medals (six
gold and four silver) from Tomsk, and South Korea, which took 11 awards (three
gold, five silver and three bronze)", - is said in the report.

statement.
As the president of the Tomsk region
underwater federation Natalia Grechikhina told journalists on the last day of
the competition, she did not expect so many participants and fans.
"Parents arrived, supported on a tribune, also participated in this
holiday ... 25 member countries - is a very great achievement ... And the most
important thing - is that the teams ... come not for two or three people, but
for 15-20 people. It is very important, because for Tomsk this is a very great
achievement. It is unique", - she said.
It was also reported that the
Russian athletes have set a world record among juniors in the 4x100 relay race
in fins. Awards in the team collection were brought by residents of Tomsk
Kirill Vasiliev ("gold" in the relay 4x100, "silver" in a
heat for 50 meters, "silver" in mixed relay 4x50 meters and
"silver" in diving in fins in length, 50 meters) and Julia Bryndina
("gold" in mixed relay 4x200 meters).
