TOMSK, Aug 8 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk finswimmers plan to create
International academy of underwater sport based on Educational and Sports
Center of Water Sports named after Shevelyov; interest in finswimming among
residents of Tomsk increased after the world championship which took place in
the region, president of regional of underwater federation Natalya Grechikhina
told.
Earlier it was reported that Russian
national team won the first place in all-team competition in Finswimming World
Championship, which took place in Tomsk from August 1 to August 6. The national
team got 35 medals: 16 gold, nine silver and 10 bronze. Residents of Tomsk
brought five medals to team: gold and three silver – Kirill Vasilyev and gold –
Yulia Bryndina.
According to Grechikhina, the
International academy of underwater sport is planned to be created based on the
Tomsk Educational and Sports Center of Water Sports named after Shevelyov. This
issue was already discussed, and it is planned to return to it after elections
of the governor. She noted that the Tomsk experts are well trained for work at
the international level.
"Our trainers go worldwide,
give lectures how to teach children to swim… We have people, manuals, we have
people to work and with whom to work. And the most important is demand … A huge
number of countries, even without developing underwater swimming yet, ask to
arrive and train here... I think that there will be such academy in
Tomsk", – Grechikhina told.

According to her, interest in
finswimming seriously increased in Tomsk in recent years, and especially –
after the world championship, which took place in Tomsk.
"I thank our residents of Tomsk
who competed at these competitions. They looked adequately … They are followed
by many followers... I was already called and said: "I ask to include my
child". A shaft of calls, it increases. We had no problems with admission
in these sections, and now, I think, there will be a big agiotage. It is for
what we work all together", – Grechikhina told.
Earlier it was reported that more
than 2 thousand residents of Tomsk practice scuba diving, and their number
continues to grow.
