TOMSK, Nov 27 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU)
was included into group of 126-150 best universities of the world in the
subject rating Times Higher Education (THE) in Physical Sciences direction, TPU
website reported on Monday. Tomsk State University (TSU) also has got to the
rating, it entered group 201-250, press service of the university reported RIA
Tomsk.
According to TPU, the position of
the universities was voiced by the editor-in-chief of the World University
Rating THE Phil Baty at a press conference held within the framework of the
XXII seminar-conference of the 5-100 project on Monday.
According to the press service of
TPU, Tomsk Polytechnic University was included into group 126-150 of the rating
and got to the five of leading universities of the Russian Federation in the
field of physical sciences together with Moscow State University, Moscow
Engineering Physics Institute, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and
Novosibirsk State University.

"Reputation is one of important
in the rating. Tomsk Polytechnic University is one of the recognized leading
scientific centers in the field of physics of high-energy processes, charged
particle accelerators, high-current electronics, nondestructive testing and
others from 1950th years", – the rector of TPU Petr Chubik whose words are
cited in the message commented on the results of the rating. He listed also
other achievements of TPU, including growth of number of scientific
publications and their quoting.
According to the press service of
TSU, the classical university has got into group 201-250.
"We are for the first time in
the subject rating Times Higher Education in the Physical Sciences direction,
and it is, undoubtedly, a merit of all TSU group and an appreciation of
achievements of classical university. It confirms once again that we move in
the right direction, though places in various ratings is not end in itself, but
an opportunity to specify the priorities and the directions of
development", – the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Victor Dyomin is
quoted in the message of TSU.

Education publishes one of three most prestigious world rankings of
universities annually (along with the ratings QS World University Rankings and
Academic Ranking of World Universities) and also a number of subject ratings,
among them Arts & humanities, Business & Economics, Computer Science,
Engineering & technology, Life sciences, Physical sciences, Social
sciences.
