(TSU) considers possibilities on expansion of cooperation with European Organization
for Nuclear Research (CERN) in microelectronics and detector technologies; more
than 10 students and graduate students will go to CERN where they design and
set up detectors and analyze data of collider, press service of university
reports.
Earlier it was reported that TSU scientists thanks to
the radiation resistant detectors developed by them entered the group of the
ATLAS project, which is carried out on the Large Hadron Collider in CERN.
Within the experiment researchers are engaged in search of superheavy
elementary particles, such as Higgs boson.
According to the press service of TSU, the university
is a full member of collaboration of ATLAS and also the only representative of
Russia in TOTEM experiment (groups are included into CERN – Ed.). The rector of
the university Eduard Galazhinsky visited the experimental underground platform
of CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) experiment in CERN within a working trip and
also met the management of collaborations of TOTEM and ATLAS.
"We were highly appreciated from CERN because we
fulfill all the obligations and we do it in the specified terms. We consider
the possibilities on expansion of cooperation in microelectronics and
development of detector technologies. Besides, we plan to involve program engineers
to work with the collider", – Galazhinsky is quoted in the message.

With reference to the rector of the university it is
added that cooperation of TSU and CERN develops. For example, more than 10
students and graduate students will go to CERN already for the second time.
They will work in the research groups developing new technologies of detecting
of particles, to take part in assembly and adjustment of detectors, the
analysis of big data of the collider.
Also earlier it was reported that TSU scientists
received a megagrant of the Government of the Russian Federation of about 90
million rubles on creation of the center of a world class for the analysis of
data of dietary supplement in CERN.
