TOMSK, Jul 4 – RIA Tomsk. The Russian Science Foundation (RSF) summed up two grant competitions for young scientists and supported 20 projects of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) for a total amount of 156.5 million rubles; this amount of support become the largest for all history of work of the university with the Foundation, the press service of TPU said on Wednesday.
It is specified that financial support of RSF received young researchers from TPU for two grant competitions: "Carrying out initiative research by young scientists" and "Carrying out research by scientific groups under the leadership of young scientists" of the Presidential Program of Research Projects.
"The Foundation (RSF) supported 20 projects of Tomsk Polytechnic University for a total amount of 156.5 million rubles. This is the largest amount of support allocated to scientists and teams of TPU for the entire history of the work with the Foundation, and the best result among Tomsk universities", – is said in the report.

It is noted that the "Carrying out initiative research by young scientists" contest is aimed to support researchers at the age of up to 33, who defended their Candidate's dissertation. Grants for this contest were awarded to 12 TPU projects dedicated to spectroscopy for studying the atmospheres of the earth and the planets of the solar system, researching various fuels, developing methods for the production of oxo derivatives of betulin and others.
Young candidates and doctors of sciences aged under 35 participated in the contest "Carrying out research by scientific groups under the leadership of young scientists". The amount of the grant – is up to 5 million rubles annually, its duration – is three years, but it is possible to extend it on a competitive basis up to five years. Support for the contest received eight TPU projects for a total amount of 120 million rubles.
It is noted that in two competitions the RSF supported every third application submitted by Tomsk Polytechnic University. "This indicates a qualitatively prepared scientific component of the application", – is added in the message.
