TOMSK, Feb 27 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in 2019 is already represented in the QS World University Rankings by Subject (Quacquarelli Symonds) in 10 disciplines and areas; the growth of indicators for the university ensured reputation among employers and an increase in the citation of articles, the press service of TPU reported on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the British agency QS published annual subject rankings of 1222 universities of the world: "Humanities and Art", "Engineering and Technology", "Life Sciences and Medicine", "Natural Science", "Social Sciences & Management". In each of them universities are evaluated in a number of disciplines, the total number of which is 48. TPU improved its positions in the core for itself subject “Engineering and Technology” and in a number of disciplines.
“The growth of indicators according to the main criteria of the rankings was provided to us by a fairly high reputation among employers and an increase in the citation of articles on applied scientific issues”, – the press service quotes the acting rector of TPU Petr Chubik.
According to the press service, TPU positions in 2019 were for the first time noted in 10 disciplines and subject areas of the QS rating: "Engineering and Technology", "Computer Science & Information Systems", "Chemical Engineering", "Mechanical Engineering", "Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Physics", "Natural Sciences", "Chemistry", "Materials Science", " Physics & Astronomy", "Business and Management".
"We expanded our representation in it (rating) from seven to ten subject areas and disciplines. Now this representation corresponds to all main areas of scientific and educational activities of our ten schools: six engineering, two research, as well as the School of Engineering Entrepreneurship and the School of Core Engineering Education", – Chubik said.

Earlier it was reported that since the autumn of 2017 in TPU began restructuring: the departments were eliminated, instead of scientific and educational institutes were created six Engineering Schools, School of Core Engineering Education, School of Engineering Entrepreneurship and two Research Schools. Now engineering schools are engaged in training personnel for industrial enterprises, and research schools are training scientists.
