TOMSK, Mar 12 – RIA Tomsk. Pupils from different regions of Russia came in Tomsk for the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) on the “Smart City” profile; it started on Tuesday at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU), the deputy general director of the RDE "Tomsk Electronic Company" (partner of the event) Maria Kanashuk told.
The NTI Olympiad – is a competition for schoolchildren
of 7–11 classes aimed at identifying and developing of talented children who are capable to solve
complex cross-disciplinary tasks. Tomsk Polytechnic University is the developer
of the "Smart City" profile, so the final of the Olympiad on it is
held in Tomsk.
"This year we have 35 people from 10 regions,
including the Central region, Bashkiria, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok. We have
one participant who traveled for three days from Khabarovsk Krai - by bus, on
foot, by train and in the end he reached us", – Kanashuk said.
As the press service of the university specifies,
schoolchildren from Bashkortostan, Chuvashia, Dagestan, Khabarovsk and
Primorsky krais, Omsk, Tomsk, Orenburg, Novosibirsk regions and St. Petersburg

already successfully passed the previous stages of the Olympiad.
According to TPU, in 2019, schoolchildren could choose
one of 19 Olympiad profiles related to the development of "markets of the
future": unmanned vehicles, intellectual energy, small cosmonautics,
neuro- and biotechnologies, robotics, and other scientific fields. The
directions correspond to the industry priorities of the NTI – the program of
Russia's global technological leadership by 2035.
The task – is to create your "smart" city
"Previously, as you remember, it was enough to
work with fifth-year students, fourth-year students .., to attract to practice.
Then we began to work with beginners – first, second, third courses. Now we see
that this age is becoming less and less, and we have already come to
schoolchildren", – Kanashuk noted.

According to her, in Tomsk they will solve the final
task for four days – make working models of the three systems responsible for
collecting and transmitting data using the example of housing and utilities
data, automatic regulation of traffic flows in the city and safety of schools
and kindergartens. These tasks were developed with the participation of the
partner profile - Research and Development enterprise "Tomsk Electronic
Company".
"Then we will give these prototypes to Tomsk
"Kvantorium" – schoolchildren finish their project there throughout
the year. What the guys at the Olympiad do in four days of hard work, we want
to give our students the same task to see how well they cope with such
tasks", – Kanashuk added.
She noted that the results of the Olympiad will be
summed up on March 16.
Earlier it was reported that in 2018 in TPU passed the
stage of the All-Russian NTI Olympiad "Electronic Engineering: Smart
Home". 35 schoolchildren from 12 cities of Russia took part in it. They
had to make models of "smart" houses, convenient for living of a
modern person. Winners and prize-winners received 100 points of the Unified
State Exam in computer science or physics when they entered Olympiad partner
universities.
