TOMSK, Jun 5 – RIA Tomsk. More than 200 applications from
masters from 38 countries arrived on carpenter's competitions of the XII
international Tomsk festival "Axe Holiday"; for the first time
masters from Philippines, Ireland, Turkey, Switzerland and Armenia plan to
participate in the competition, one of organizers of the festival Denis Lykhin
reported to RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that in 2018 the international Tomsk festival
competition of national crafts "Axe Holiday" became the most mass in
11 years of its carrying out: more than 150 thousand guests and over 240
masters from the different countries participated in events. The best were
revealed among woodcarvers and birch bark, smiths, potters and stove-setters.
In March accepting applications from masters for the festival of 2019 started.
"In total, 200 applications were received for the carpenters'
competition this year (160 in 2018). 118 were from Russians, 82 were from
foreigners ... I am glad that there are six more participants districts of the
Tomsk region – six regions last year against seven regions this year – submitted applications from 23 regions (20 in 2018.). The number of
participating countries also increased – 38 countries, last year it was 33", – he said.

Lykhin specified that this year for the first time applications of the
master from Philippines, Ireland, Italy, Turkey, Montenegro, Portugal,
Switzerland and Armenia submitted. Since June 10 the contest committee will
begin selection of applicants for participation in the competition.
"Selection is tougher every year. As we want to bring the most
interesting works and ideas. As a result about 150 carpenters will be assumed
to the competition that is at the same level of the last year. By June 20 the
list of those who will arrive to us in August will be made", – he
explained.
In addition, according to him, by July 1 participants of competitions of
barkmen, smiths, potters and stove-setters will become known.
