TOMSK, Jul 3 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) presented the international bachelor's degree program TISP, which was developed jointly with Maastricht University (Netherlands); it is the only cross-disciplinary program of a bachelor degree in Russia in natural sciences and physical and mathematical fields of knowledge in English, the press service of TSU reported on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the TISP (Tomsk International Science Program) involves problem-design training at the junction of five areas - biomaterials, ecology, neuroscience, physics and chemistry. The program also has educational modules on history, applied statistics, data analysis, development of new research methods, and so on.
"The program was developed jointly with Maastricht University and is the only cross-disciplinary program of a bachelor degree in Russia in natural sciences and physical and mathematical fields of knowledge in English. Each student here will study in his chosen direction", – is said in the statement.

As the director of TISP, the professor of TSU and Maastricht University Herman Kingma noted during the presentation, problem-design training will enable students to engage in solving complex interdisciplinary and realistic tasks. In his opinion, this approach contributes to the development of teamwork skills in international groups.
"Why do we need a diploma if after we do not have a job? It is very important to organize training focused on the formation of knowledge and the development of skills and abilities necessary throughout the subsequent life", – he is quoted in the message of the press service.
Lectures will be given by leading foreign specialists: Thomas Clay, the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering Maastricht University, scientist of TSU and University of Sheffield, Terry Callaghan – is an outstanding researcher, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for studying climate change issues, and other experts.
