Tomsk. Acting Rector of Tomsk Polytechnic University
(TPU) Victor Dyomin and First Vice-Rector Andrey Yakovlev presented updated
administrative apparatus at the first meeting of Rectorate; Research School of
Chemistry & Applied Biomedical Sciences got a new director, Vice-Rector for
External Affairs Liliya Kiryanova said in social network Facebook.
Earlier it was reported that on November 5 the Chairman of the Supervisory
Board of TPU Governor of the Tomsk region Sergey Zhvachkin presented the new
acting Rector Dyomin and the new First Vice-Rector – Yakovlev to the staff of
the university. Dyomin was previously Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Tomsk
State University. About Yakovlev it is known that he received a higher
education in Ufa, is a doctor of physical and mathematical sciences.
"We are fighting the rumors with the truth. Acting Rector of TPU
Victor Dyomin and the the First Vice-Rector Andrey Yakovlev today (Friday,
November 8), indeed, presented an updated management team at the first meeting
of Rectorate. The official appointment will take place a little later", – Kiryanova
writes.
She clarified that Mikhail Solovyov was appointed Vice-Rector for
Academic Affairs, Mekhman Yusubov – Vice-Rector for Research and Innovations,
Svetlana Lukinykh – Vice-Rector for Personnel, Liliya Kiryanova – Vice-Rector
for External Affairs, Dmitry Dmitriev – Vice-Rector for Security.

Also, according to Kiryanova, Research School of Chemistry & Applied
Biomedical Sciences got a new director. Ahe is Marina Trusova. The management
of the other schools remained unchanged.
"The new management will present its vision of the development of
the university until 2030 after personal meetings with collectives of all
schools, leading scientists, students, partners", – the Vice-Rector for
External Affairs added.
Earlier it was reported that the Rector powers of Petr Chubik expired at
the end of 2018, he did not stand for a new term. About 20 people, including
foreigners, applied for the post of the Rector. However, the Ministry did not
approve the main candidate. Chubik then became interim Rector until July 9,
2020, but he left office on October 11.
Tomsk Polytechnic University – is the leading technical university of
the country. It's founded in 1896 as Tomsk Technological Institute of Practical
Engineers of Emperor Nicholas II. It became the first engineering university in
the Asian part of the country. Today TPU – is the largest technical university
beyond the Urals; enters the top 10 universities of Russia and the top 400
universities of the world. Since 2013 participates in the "5-100"
program to increase competitiveness in the world.
In June 2019, TPU entered the top 10 of the university ranking compiled
by the Russian editorial office of Forbes magazine, taking the ninth line; this
is the best result among non-capital universities in the country.
