RIA Tomsk. Specialists of the Gazpromneft-Vostok company
and the Bazhen Technology Centre discovered a new Paleozoic oil deposit at the
Urmanskoye field in the Tomsk region; the increase in geological reserves could
reach about 5 million tons of oil equivalent, the company’s press service said
on Thursday.
It was
previously reported that Gazpromneft-Vostok (subsidiary of JSC Gazprom Neft) is
developing the Urmano-Archinsk group of fields in the Parabel district of the
region. It was also reported that Gazprom Neft launched the
"Paleozoy" project in the Tomsk region to develop hard-to-recover oil
reserves from pre-Jurassic deposits, which would allow to obtain new
technologies for the extraction of “difficult” oil and, ultimately, to increase
its production volumes.

It is noted that
the deposit was identified in the Paleozoic carbonate deposits in the southeast
of the field. When drilling a prospecting and appraisal well with a length of
3660 meters, an oil fountain with a total volume of 92 tons per day was
obtained.
"According
to preliminary estimates, the increase in recoverable reserves of the field is
more than 1.5 million tons of oil equivalent. In 2020, it is planned to drill
four horizontal production wells for production at the Urmanskoye field of
Paleozoic oil", – the Gazpromneft-Vostok's press service said.
New deposits
were identified during a large-scale geological exploration program implemented
by Gazpromneft-Vostok, Bazhen Technology Centre and the Gazprom Neft science and
technology center. It includes drilling of five exploration wells and
conducting 3D seismic exploration over an area of 500 square kilometers, is
said in the company's materials.
