TOMSK, Aug 18 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) will provide one of the "towers" of the Mayak ("Lighthouse") dormitory for foreign students who come to study for a mandatory two-week isolation; freshmen will be quarantined in September, the rest of the courses - in October, is reported on the university's website on Tuesday.
It is specified that the educational process in the new academic year in the conditions of a pandemic will be implemented in intramural form of study, but students will have to enter the campus gradually. So, all foreign first-year students or students who were outside Russia, as well as students from regions with an unfavorable epidemiological situation, according to the instructions of Rospotrebnadzor, will be required to undergo 14-day isolation.
Freshmen
"We allocate a week for check-in and accommodation in the dormitory: from September 2 to 6 - check-in, from September 7 to 20 - isolation of students. From September 7, we will begin the educational process using distance technologies. After isolation ends, from September 21 classes in a mixed format will begin", - TSU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Evgeny Lukov is quoted on the website.
According to him, this applies to the first year of bachelor's, specialist's and master's degrees students. To isolate them, TSU allocates one "tower" of the new Mayak ("Lighthouse") dormitory.

"As soon as the isolation ends, students are transferred to a permanent place of residence in dormitories. A coronavirus test will be carried out on the 10th and 12th day. If sick people are identified, treatment will be organized for them and those in contact, or isolation is extended. For these students an individual curriculum will be developed", - Lukov said in an interview with the press service.
Students who will undergo isolation outside the TSU dormitory must inform the campus of their location and provide their address. To be admitted to classes, they also need to pass a coronavirus test in Tomsk on the 10-12 days.
Senior students
Lukov noted that senior courses will begin to study on September 2 using distance learning methods so as not to shift the academic curriculum.
"From October 5 to October 11, they come to Tomsk. We ask students to treat this emergency with understanding and come exactly on these dates, otherwise it will be difficult to provide two-week isolation for students who have come from other countries and regions with an unfavorable epidemiological situation", - he said.
From October 12 to October 25, classes will be held using distance learning methods, and from October 26, all students go to campus for a mixed classes format.
