TOMSK, Aug 19 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) on Wednesday began enrollment at the
master's degree programs; in total, 23.6 thousand applications from more than 9
thousand people were submitted to the university in the admissions campaign in
2020, an employee of the press service of the university told RIA Tomsk.
According to the interlocutor of the agency, TSU has
finished accepting applications from applicants entering the state-funded
places in bachelor's and specialist's degree programs and having USE results,
as well as for the state-funded places in master's degree programs. On
Wednesday, enrollment began at the university: applicants for the master's
degree programs will be the first to be enrolled – this is about 1200 people.
"In total, 23,585 applications were submitted to
TSU, which is 22% more than last year. More than 9 thousand applicants
submitted applications to TSU in 2020 – according to the rules, each applicant
has the right to apply for three directions. The number of applicants applying
to study at TSU is 23% more than last year", – she said.
It is noted that residents of more than 50 regions of
the Russian Federation applied for study at TSU. In addition, the number of
applications from abroad increased by 30%, despite the fact that the issue of
opening the borders is still open. In total, TSU will accept about 4 thousand
freshmen for bachelor's, specialist's, master's degree programs and
postgraduate studies.

The top 10 programs most in demand among applicants
include the programs of the Institute of Law, Faculty of Journalism, Institute
of Economics and Management, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Department of
International Relations of the Faculty of Historical and Political Sciences,
the agency's interlocutor said.
"At the same time, IT direction has firmly
established itself at the top of the ranking. In 2020, at the Higher IT School
(HITs), when applying for a state-funded place, the average USE score remains
is around 90. There is also a high demand for other IT areas of training of the
Institute of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science", – she noted.
Earlier it was reported that in 2020, due to the
danger of the spread of a new coronavirus infection, applications and documents
for admission are submitted online, almost all entrance tests are also carried
out on electronic platforms.
