TOMSK, Sep 22 – RIA Tomsk, Vyacheslav MatvievskyTSU started receipt of applications for free professional retraining courses for residents of the region affected by the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic; among the available programs there are quantum technologies, machine learning and big data, as well as the design of neurointerfaces, the press service said.

Earlier it was reported that according to the regional department of labor and employment of the population of the Tomsk region, at the end of August 2020, there were 24.9 thousand people registered in the employment centers, the number of unemployed since the beginning of the year has grown fivefold, 50% of them are residents of Tomsk. It was also reported that unemployed residents of the region, registered during the pandemic, prefer "covid" benefits to employment.

According to the press service, citizens who are under the threat of dismissal, including due to the liquidation of the enterprise, who received a written notification from the employer no earlier than March 25, 2020, will be able to take part in the professional retraining program at Tomsk State University (TSU); job seekers and registered with the employment service no earlier than March 25, 2020; graduates of educational institutions this year.

"Residents of the Tomsk region, affected by the consequences of the spread of COVID-19, will be able to get a new profession for free - including at TSU. The training will take place within the framework of the federal program, applications are accepted until September 30 ... In total, 1300 residents of Tomsk will be able to undergo training under the Express program. The courses will begin in October and will last until December", - the message says.

It is noted that among the courses offered to Tomsk citizens there are graphic design, organization of excursion services, entrepreneurship, 1C programming, machine learning and big data, mobile application development, interface design, VR and AR development, quantum technologies, electronics, laser technologies and prototypes manufacturing.

Classes will be held online and offline. Based on the results of the training, students will receive certificates of advanced training of the state standard, they will also be provided with measures of assistance for employment. One can submit an application and read more about the courses offered by TSU on the website of the Express program.

Earlier it was also reported that Tomsk residents affected by the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic were offered to get a new profession at the Center for Advanced Professional Training of the Tomsk region due to the fact that in July the Center was designated as a regional operator of free professional retraining of citizens.
