28 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (TSU) entered the top 25 Russian
universities based on monitoring the quality of admission of applicants and
became the leader in the quality of state-funded admission in the Tomsk region;
the average USE score of applicants admitted to the state-funded places at TSU
is 79.4 points, the press service of the university said.
It is noted
that the top 25 Russian universities were compiled by the Higher School of
Economics (HSE) and Yandex with the support of the Ministry of Science and
Higher Education of the Russian Federation based on the results of monitoring
the quality of admission to universities in 2020. The quality of admission was
assessed by the average score of applicants enrolled in the first year on the
basis of the USE. Monitoring has been carried out since 2010.
"According
to the results of monitoring the quality of admission to universities in 2020,
Tomsk State University entered the top 25 universities in Russia and is the
leader in the quality of state-funded admission in the Tomsk region. The
average USE score of applicants admitted to the state-funded places at TSU is
79.4 points", – the message said.

universities were included in the top 25 Russian universities in terms of the
quality of state-funded admission, TSU became the leader. The university has
demonstrated the best indicators in the quality of state-funded admission in
the Tomsk region. In general, the region showed the third result in the country
after Moscow and St. Petersburg. In addition, almost 1.5 times more students
participants of academic competition enrolled in universities.
"Attracting
strong applicants is a strategic task for our university, which is the leader
of the 5-100 program and is focused on achieving international competitiveness.
We are systematically working to improve the quality of admission and attract
talented, motivated applicants", – the press service of TSU quoted Rector
Eduard Galazhinsky.
The most
popular areas for TSU applicants in 2020 are traditionally law, economics,
international relations, foreign regional studies, software engineering, design
and journalism. Moreover, the competition for foreign regional studies turned
out to be a record for the university – 64 applications for one state-funded
place, says the report.
