TOMSK, Jan 10 –
RIA Tomsk. More than 500,000 residents of
the Tomsk region have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with both components of
the vaccine, a member of the regional administration's press service told RIA
Tomsk on Monday.
Earlier it was
reported that the Tomsk region was among the six Russian regions with the
lowest collective immunity to the coronavirus infection in October 2021. In
November and December, authorities reported that the rate of vaccination in the
region had increased significantly. The Tomsk region has a population of 1.07
million people.
"A total of
503,905 people have received the second component of the vaccine (against
COVID-19) in the Tomsk region," the agency's interlocutor said.
According to
her, a resident of the region is counted once in the statistics. Revaccination
is not included in these figures.
According to the
operative staff, 535,310 people in the Tomsk region have received the first
component of the vaccine against the new coronavirus infection, including
161,579 people over 60 years of age. Moreover, during New Year holidays - from
January 4 to January 9 - more than 4,000 people were inoculated. According to
the regional administration, over 61% of the adult population has been
vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine in nine municipal districts.
As it was also
reported earlier, heads of organizations in the Tomsk region, whose employees
are subject to compulsory vaccination against COVID-19 (education, healthcare,
transport and others) may be fined from 50 thousand to 500 thousand rubles, if
less than 80% of the employees were vaccinated by December 31, 2021. As of the
end of December, the majority of such enterprises exceeded the
"norm".
